Kanye made it very clear on the “Big Brother” record he recorded on the album titled Graduation that he is a true fan of Jay-Z. He referenced Jay-Z as his “idol” and the “God of the game” along with many other distinct titles to exude his admiration and respect for his self-proclaimed, “big brother”. I found it quite peculiar for someone as arrogant as Kanye to be so humbled by another man, but I respected him for recording the record and making it known to the world that he loves Jay-Z. As everyone knows, there is a thread-thin line between being a fan and being a fanatic. I always feel that Kanye walks that line many times with his admiration for Jay-Z. Sure, the two of them hang out with each other a lot and have collaborated on great songs/albums together, but Kanye always appears to be more of a Jay-Z fan who happens to be friends with him, as opposed to a friend of Jay-Z who happens to be a fan. Do you understand the difference?
Kanye’s relationship with Kim Kardashian really made me raise an eyebrow. As everyone knows, Kim can’t possibly compare to Beyonce` in talent because, well, she has no talent; however, her looks and body are just as captivating as Beyonce`s. Kim Kardashian is arguably just as beautiful if not more beautiful than Beyconce`. Beyonce` is the “hottest chic in the game” as her husband oftentimes references her. Kim Kardashian is the hottest chic of the world of mainstream entertainment. Is Kanye trying to have his own “hot chic in the game” like his big brother Jay-Z? I’m not sure, but what I am sure of is he mentioned to be number one he has to beat his brother; or in other words, he has to be more successful than Jay-Z. I’m not sure if record sells, annual income, attractive women, and/or innovation are measurements of success for Kanye, but I know he has always been a strong fan of Jay-Z. Here’s my word of advice to Kanye: Don’t try too hard. Being that I believe Kanye is more talented than Jay-Z, I believe he has to end his borderline obsession with Jay-Z in order to excel in his own space.
What do you think? Is Kanye a Jay-Z fan or a fanatic?
I totally agree. I couldn’t have said it better myself. Kanye West used to be the truth! I don’t know what happened to him, but somewhere down the line he lost “touch” with his creativity, artistry & craft. & You’re right; he is trying to be like Jay-Z in terms of EVERYTHING, including his relationship with Kim Kardashian. I find it sad & disheartening because I really did admire his work.
