Vigalantee wants the culture to focus on The Good Life

When reaching twenty one is a goal of our young people, then you know our race is in trouble. I work for a program at Kansas City Kansas Community College called F.B.O.E. (Fringe Benefits of Education). I talk to hundreds of young adults daily, and their hope is to just make it past twenty one. A lot of teens have witnessed the death of many of their peers over the years. They have set goals not to be married in twenty years, or have a degree in ten, because many of their friends have not made it past high school. Early this year, a young sixteen year old student, named Jalissa Reed was killed in a drive by that shocked Kansas City, and the murder is still unsolved. As an artist I feel it’s our responsibility to bring light through our craft to help promote non- violence in our music, because of its influence. Whether we like it or not, the promotion of violence sticks to the rib. I am tired of that type of art imitating life. So click below to hear The Good Life.
