Some people never learn. A Detroit rapper, Young Calicoe, is under investigation for recording a tour of his home. Recording a tour of his home is not the actual crime though. The actual crime is that his tour included a display of animals (dogs and roosters) which he claims he keeps for dog and rooster fights.
Young Calicoe was trying to show off for the MTV series Cribs. But he may have gone over the top and put his foot in his mouth. In an interview with Midnight TV Hood Reality, he stated: “Anybody wanna fight some dogs?” As he asked this question, he opened a gate which housed the animals. The animals were kept in makeshift kennels. Young Calicoe then arrogantly (or stupidly) states, “Hope we don’t get indicted for that, that Michael Vick type sh-t.” Are you serious? Apparently, he didn’t learn a thing from the Michael Vick case.
Michael Vick, as you know, is an American football quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, who got in serious hot water for his involvement with an illegal dog fighting ring in 2007. Michael Vick initially denied knowing anything about a dog fighting ring – which, by the way, was conducted in his own home under his nose. However, that claim was pretty incredulous since the dog fighting had been operating for over 5 years in Vick’s home. Vick pleaded to felony charges, served 21 months in prison and lost his NFL salary and product endorsements.
So what makes this rapper, Young Calicoe, think he’s different? Calico actually brags and shows his dogs and roosters – one of whom he points out to with pride and calls him a “grand champ.”
When controversy arose due to Calicoe’s blatant display of animals coupled with his statement, he completely denied ever having dogs fight. He claims that if anyone ever finds a video of him conducting a dog fight, to please let him know.
The Detroit Police Department is looking into these serious allegations. In addition, the Michigan Humane Society will be conducting their own investigation.
